Kevin Pontuti: Film Screening & Talk

MEDIA X director, Kevin Pontuti, will present a selection of short films and talk about his creative process.
The selection of films will be from Pontuti's POETRY OF PENANCE project—a series of short period films (cantos) that use magical realism to explore themes such as resilience, loss and self-acceptance.
The first film in the series—ONERE—premiered at the Duluth-Superior Film Festival (USA) and won awards at the Altered Aesthetics Film Festival (USA), Flyway Film Festival (USA), FEDAXV (Chile), Pi Greco Zen Film Festival (Italy) and the Solaris Film Festival (France).
The event is free and open to the public!
About Kevin Pontuti
Kevin Pontuti is an artist and educator based in the USA. He received his MFA from Syracuse University in 1993 then moved to California where he founded the Los Angeles-based production company Studio P Inc. His image-making expertise and collaborative spirit attracted many top artists and designers to his studio. In 2009, Pontuti accepted a professorship at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. In 2017, he returned to California to lead University of the Pacific's MEDIA X program. His teaching and creative practice include photography, cinematic arts and transmedia studies.
